My name is Andreas and I would like to say a few words about Shani and what I learned from her about life and peace.
Day one with all the pictures I will never forget struck me to the deepest ground of my soul, shattered my heart. All those young lives so senselessly wasted, all this hatred and evil from hamas. Hamas broke all boundaries of humanity!
I prayed, I really prayed and feared so hard for Shanis safe return and of all the other hostages. What else could I have done, far away here in Germany?
When the war progressed, hate grew in my heart: that evil hamas needs to be erased from the face of earth, that threat shall never ever endanger again!
Then I saw an interview with Amit. I was deeply impressed by his very own and very strong decision, not to go on the path of hate and war, not to start the loop of hate, but to keep the peace.
This truly changed my mind and I felt ashamed. It would have been so easy to hate back. However, he decided not to.
Politicians take political actions, whether they seem appropriate or not, and change the fate between nations. Independent from this, every human being makes his own decision in his very own heart about war and peace, hate and love, about death and life. And this affects humans across nations. In political discussions I articulate this behaviour. There is already too much hate in the world.
Shanis joy about life and her pure positivity about life and humans is an example for me. Life is so precious, caring for others, even strangers, is important. And for this lesson I’m grateful. Thank you, Shani.
I hope more people are aware they can decide between light and the dark side, just on their own.
I wish you, Shani, all the best, wherever you are now. And so for her family and friends.
